This proposal is a centre dedicated to local and traditional performance arts, situated in the vibrant port city of Valencia. It is an experiential space that will encourage cultural exchange and artistic expression, inspiring creativity and community engagement. My proposal features a variety of multi-purpose communal spaces and employs the use of more sustainable local materials such as glulam and stone.
My design is centred around the idea of honouring the past and the sites historical context whilst creating a new and exciting building that can be enjoyed by both local residents and visitors. With reference to the French term 'bricolage'; my proposal intertwines and weaves moments of history and heritage with the site and its local context; along with a more modern approach to the buildings programme and materiality - thus becoming "A Cultural Tapestry".
